Indiana
RWA Online Class Schedule
Judging for Chapter Contests
-
REGISTRATION CLOSED
An online class by Alicia
Rasley
April 1
Judging contests, even
more than entering contests, can teach you a lot about preparing a
proposal for submission: what the editor will be looking for, what
will capture the reader's attention, etc.
This class, given
annually by Indiana RWA to qualify chapter judges, is now being
opened up to the general RWA membership. In this class,
award-winning author and constant judge Alicia Rasley will take you
through the process of reading an entry, the problems contest
coordinators warn against, the methods of scoring fairly, and the
commenting techniques for explaining and encouraging. You can bring
your own contest scoresheet, or we'll supply one for you.
This is a great class if
you need to qualify to judge a contest, or if you want to experience
contests from a judge's point of view, or if you want to improve
your judging skills and get the most out of the contest experience.
The two-week class will
start April 1 and will be conducted entirely in e-mail, so you can
participate at your convenience. The cost is $5 for non-IRWA
members; free for IRWA members.
