About Indiana RWA

The Indiana Romance Writers of America® Chapter #15 (IRWA) is a chapter of Romance Writers of America® (RWA).  RWA was chartered in 1981 to serve as a nonprofit trade association for romance writers. IRWA was founded on January 1, 1982 and was incorporated in 1985.  Our mission is: to raise and maintain a level of high quality romance writing in all genres, educate, and bring together authors, editors, agents and other related professionals for the mutual benefit of all. Meetings are held the second Saturday of every month, generally at the Fishers library.  Each meeting is followed by a special program or a speaker. Indiana’s Golden Opportunity (IGO) contest is held annually.  The deadline is July 1.   Our detailed score sheet is tailored to each category and our judges are trained to provide considerate feedback that can help you fine tune your manuscript by revealing the areas you have already mastered and the areas on which you need to work.  First round judges are IRWA members, including PRO and published authors. Second and third round judges are agents and editors acquiring in the categories they are judging. We offer cash prizes for top scoring entries.  For more information about IGO, visit Contest.
